My Thoughts on the Budget 2025

The Carney Government will seed the economy by investing in the key areas needed to build a healthy and sustainable Society and our Future.

They are investing in mental and physical health of citizens, ensuring people are ready and able to contribute productively.

They are investing in education and skills training, building a human resource base capable of thriving across multiple industries and disciplines.

They are investing in provincial and international infrastructure so that work can be done efficiently and people stay connected.

And they are investing in grants, bursaries, and access to low-interest loans, empowering citizens to seize opportunities in business, expansion, trade, and research.

The government has seeded the ground—now it’s up to us to unleash our entrepreneurial creativity and take advantage of the growing opportunities ahead.

I am incredibly optimistic about what’s possible.

Thank you to the Indo Canadian community across Canada who worked hard to keep this special celebration continuing. It was our father, Hon. Deepak Obhrai, P.C. Who began this celebration 25 years ago and invited Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Jean Chretien to light the very first “diya” to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness for the first time in Canada. This was always an event that celebrated Uniting us all together to celebration and being reflected in the fabric that is Canadianna. Thank you Senator Tony Loffreda and Yasir Naqvi 🇨🇦 for co-hosting this event and continuing his legacy, as well as The High Commisioner of India,H.E Dinesh Patnaik for being a valued partner in Diplomacy. Also a special thank you to the OFIC board and Shiv Bhasker who worked hard to keep this event afloat and published a book celebrating 25 years of Diwali on the Hill. Living like a Royal on his Throne!

I feel truly blessed that I have such an incredible and supportive mother who not only is someone I love dearly, but respect immensely.

Her life, ethics, and integrity is the source of my inspiration.

She left home and moved continents at 16 knowing only my father. She raised a family, and did another move! She then built a Dry cleaning empire (3 stores) and financially and emotionally supported Dad’s Political career, in addition she supported all of us through our own ups and downs, always being there even though as stubborn kids we didn’t see it. 🥺

Through all of this she has taught me that material wealth can come and go, but your integrity, relations, and spiritual wealth is what brings you joy and purpose.

These lessons I have taken to heart, and everyday I watch her evolve into an even more beautiful soul. Her vibrance and passion even through heartache and adversary is what keeps me inspired by her.

I feel so blessed to call her mom, friend and mentor. Happy Birthday Mom! ❤️❤️❤️

Today on a whim I decided to bike
24 Km to Invermere from Fairmont.
Started at 1145. At 12km halfway mark at 12:38.
Beautiful easy going trail. Love it. 🥰
I love my little e-bike! It has a small battery but a big heart like me!

Update:
I was wrong. Closer to Invermere there are so many hills. Big ones. 😳😳😳😩😩😩

Omg there were so many hills! So many hills. Omg. I still have 5km to go!

I may or may not make it to Invermere. This part is so hilly.

My battery may die, and then I will have to do the unthinkable- use my legs and bike!

This picture I took when walking showed me, that we are all born with the strength and determination to grow into what we are meant to be despite what the outside world lays on us!

Look for the cracks that allow the light of sun into your heart, and let the flow of the universal water quench your soul, and focus on being your true self!

From this I know we will grow into a beautiful strong tree, that will bespoke an everlasting forest!

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day

Today we honor those in our lives that have made it possible for us to be here in this world. Without our mothers there would be no us!

Last year I was gifted by the universe a life changing trip where I went with my mother back to where I was born. There she unlocked stories that she shared with me about her own journey from a fiery independent teenager (which is where our family genes of rebellion come from) to becoming a Mother.

It was a very special moment in our bond because I understood what it felt like to become responsible for another life and the heaviness of that unspoken realization.

Every moment was about the safety, nutrition, and survival of this new life, and it never stops.

I know today we celebrate all Mothers out there, I however encourage us all to listen to their stories, understand who they are and what shaped their world.

Everyone has a story and it all starts with our Mothers!

I am blessed my mother embraced every adventure in her life as a moment to learn about herself and live it with integrity and passion.

Today was 50 yrs since the fall of South Vietnam to Communism, and the scars and sadness of war and the loss of lives, along with a nation, filled the hearts of the elders in the community.

However on a day of remembrance they also fanned the flames of love, gratitude and hope towards Canada, who opened our world for them not to just to take refuge, but to become part of the Vibrancy that makes up this world.

This monument is important so that we are reminded how truly fragile any nation is when we are not united, and the importance of knowing our history so we can learn how not to repeat it.

The time correction should be 7:30am to 7:30pm
Not 9:00am to 9:00pm. This was an honest oversight and the campaign is reaching out to all those who can help spread the word.

Priti wholeheartedly believes in democracy and advocates for voter rights, so she is committed in course correcting this.

It’s always a blessing when I see Elvie Abella Valeroso-Mateo. But it is double when I see her on Easter Weekend and she gives me her blessing. My father, Deepak Obhrai Mp, and I have been working with the Filipino community in Calgary for over 20 years, and to recieve continued support from the Elders of the community is deeply moving.
